Underactive Thyroid

I will try and break down my answer to your problem in 2 stages; firstly
looking at the underactive thyroid problem. An underactive thyroid
(hypothyroidism) is a fairly common problem- 20% of british women actually
have reduced thyroid function and unfortunatley this problem can cause
weight gain and depression! The medicine your GP prescribes you should help
and whatever you do DO NOT stop taking it, however these supplements should
also help you to alleviate the syptoms of an underactive thyroid and help
you to start to lose weight.

L-tyrosine (contains high levels of tyrosine)
Iodine (manufactures the thyroid hormone)
Zinc (optmises thyroid health)
Selenium (thyroid hormone metabolism)
Liquorice root (Helps support the adrenal glands)
Thyro complex (contains useful stimulants for the glands)

Also there are certain foods that can help and hinder the underactive
thyroid problem.

Foods that HELP: Fruit, vegetables, fish, skinless chicken, turkey, seaweed,
kelp, garlic, radish, seafood, egg yolk and mushrooms.

Foods that may make the condition worse: AVOID raw cabbage, peanuts, turnips
and mustard.
